Uganda Tri-Adventure Challenge begins!
Our team of plucky tri-adventurers have landed in Uganda to take part in the second ever Uganda Tri-Adventure Challenge.
They’ve been training for months for the 300km trip on foot, bike and kayak. Here they are being waved off at the airport on Saturday.
An epic adventure
This will be an awe-inspiring journey for all involved. Most importantly, it will raise money to help some of Uganda’s poorest people to transform their lives. First up for our challengers is a trek up Mount Elgon, an extinct volcano which is also the fourth highest peak in Africa. Next, they’ll hop on their bikes to navigate the dirt roads of some of the country’s untouched landscapes. Finally, on reaching the fantastically named Hairy Lemon Island, they’ll be swapping their bikes for kayaks and paddling through the remote islands of the Nile.
Track the team
We’d like to say a massive thanks to everyone who has supported the team so far. If, like us, you want to keep up with all the action, you can follow 98fm’s Teena Gates, who’s taking part with a live satellite tracker. Over the past few months, Teena has been sharing her experience of training for the trip on this blog.
