Three cheers for John!
Congratulations to Concern supporter John Corrigan on completing the “10 County Peaks Challenge” in under 100 hours. He is still fundraising to meet his target of £10,000 for our work and we urge everybody to support his outstanding efforts.
John had set himself the personal challenge of climbing to the top of the highest mountains in all of the nine counties of Ulster as well as the highest mountain in county Louth within 100 hours. This was a mighty challenge which he did to mark the 10th anniversary of his grand-daughter, Chloe’s, tragic death. John said:
Without a doubt, this was one of the hardest physical challenges I’ve ever done, but was extremely proud to have completed it, nearly 20 hours under my initial target. My family and I hope to raise £10,000 for education projects in Haiti, which is £1,000 for every year without our beloved Chloe. However we are still a long way off our target and I would be extremely grateful for any donations, big or small, from anyone who would like to support our goal.
Since 2002, John and the Corrigan family have raised a magnificent £20,000 for our charity work. The money they have raised has helped build a new school in Kenya and supported education projects in Haiti. Through this donation, we have enabled thousands of children, particularly girls and those from marginalised groups, to gain access to education.
